يكتنف الغموض النتائج المتوقع أن تحققها السباحة اللبنانية ضمن الجمنزياد الأول الذي يقام من 7 إلى 16 أيلول المقبل في لبنان، كونها ترتبط مباشرة بمستويات منتخبات البلدان العربية المشاركة. علماً أن لبنان يشارك بأفضل سباحاته وسباحيه الصاعدين (12 – 14 سنة)، سعياً إلى تحقيق المرتجى، وفق ما أكّده نائب رئيس الاتحاد اللبناني للسباحة عادل يموت.
وستجرى المنافسات في الحوض الأولمبي التابع للمجمّع الرياضي في الجامعة اللبنانية – الحدت (مدينة الرئيس رفيق الحريري الجامعية). وأوضح يموت أن التحضير لهذا الإستحقاق المدرسي بدأ فور إختتام بطولة لبنان للسباحة. ويعتبر يموت أن “هذه البطولة مهمة ومحفّزة للأجيال الواعدة بالطبع، كما أنها ضرورية لتأكيد حضور لبنان الفاعل على الساحة المدرسية الرياضية العربية”. ولهذه الغاية، أختير مناصفة 24 سباحة وسباحاً ممن يتمتعون بالمؤهلات الكافية.
وعادة ما تكون البطولات في مثل هذه السن مقدّمة لتفرض هذه المواهب وجودها، والتي يمكن أن يزيد الإهتمام بها تمهيداً لتوضع على سكة البطولات والأرقام.
ويطالب يموت الدولة بزيادة دعمها للرياضة عموماً ومنها السباحة التي تُعد من المجالات التي “نستطيع أن نحقق فيها إنجازات متى توافرت الإمكانات وإلا ستبقى الطموحات محدودة. وشكر يموت الوحدة الرياضية على إهتمامها خصوصاً رئيسها الدكتور مازن قبيسي، الذي يبذل وجهازه الإداري والفني جهوداً ملحوظة لإنجاح الجمنزياد وتحقيق انجازات على مستوى تحصد الميداليات.
المسبح الأولمبي
يُعد المسبح الأولمبي في حرم الجامعة اللبنانية من أفضل منشآت منافسات الماء في لبنان. إنتهت أعمال إنشائه في عام 2005، ويتضمّن حوضاً طوله 50 متراً وعرضه 25 متراً، وعمقه 2،05م، وتتسع مدرجاته لـ500 متفرّج، ويجاوره حوض لمسابقات الغطس. كما تضم المنشأة غرفاً لتغيير الملابس وحمامات و64 خزانة و16 كبيناً.
تتضمّن منافسات السباحة في الجمنزياد سباقات: الـ50 والـ100 والـ200 والـ400م حرة، الـ50 والـ100 م ظهراً، الـ50 والـ100م صدراً، الـ50 والـ100م فراشة، الـ200م متنوعة، البدل 4 مرات 100م حرة والبدل 4 مرات 100م متنوّعة.
